SOIC-8 footprint and integration story
The MAX3082ECSA+: The 8-SOIC footprint is a standard small-outline profile — the 1.27 mm lead pitch routes cleanly on a two-layer board without via-in-pad, and the package body sits low enough that airflow over the adjacent passives is not blocked.
115 Kbps data rate — what it means for the bus
At 115 Kbps, the MAX3082ECSA+ is a moderate-speed RS-485 node — fast enough for Modbus RTU at 115.2 kbaud, BACnet MS/TP, or DMX512 lighting control, but not for high-throughput Profibus or Ethernet-adjacent fieldbuses. The 100 mV receiver hysteresis provides noise immunity on long cable runs; on a 1000 m bus at 115 Kbps the hysteresis prevents the receiver from toggling on reflected edges. The single driver and single receiver (1/1 configuration) suit point-to-point or multi-drop networks where each node talks and listens on the same pair.
