The Analog Devices MAX3082ECPA+ is a half-duplex transceiver for RS-422 and RS-485 networks, packaged in an 8-pin PDIP for through-hole assembly. It handles one driver and one receiver on a single differential bus, with the data rate capped at 115 kbps – suited for legacy fieldbus links, PLC-to-sensor interfaces, and building-management serial drops where the bus runs at moderate speed. The 100 mV receiver hysteresis cleans up slow edges on long cable runs, reducing the chance of chatter at the UART input.
Supply and temperature constraints
Supply range is 4.75 V to 5.25 V. Operating temperature span is 0°C to 70°C.
Package and mounting
Through-hole 8-DIP (0.300-inch row spacing) – a standard footprint that fits prototyping boards, terminal-block adapters, and legacy PCB layouts. The PDIP body is 7.62 mm wide, so it occupies the same hole pattern as a classic 8-pin DIP socket. No fine-pitch soldering required; hand-assembly and rework are straightforward.
