Quad RS-422/RS-485 driver in 16-TSSOP
The MAX3042BCUE+ is a quad-channel RS-422/RS-485 driver from Analog Devices, delivering 20 Mbps data rate per channel. It drives four differential outputs from a single 5V supply rail (4.75V to 5.25V nominal) — a clean fit for point-to-point or multi-drop serial buses where one transmitter IC handles several nodes. The 0.65 mm pin pitch demands standard fine-pitch soldering — no exotic assembly required.
20 Mbps signalling and supply margin
At 20 Mbps, the driver handles the full RS-422/RS-485 data rate ceiling — suitable for high-speed industrial fieldbus links, encoder interfaces, or backplane serial backhauls. The 4/0 driver/receiver count means this is a pure transmitter; the receiving side is handled by a separate IC (e.g. a MAX3095 or equivalent). The supply tolerance of 4.75V to 5.25V gives 250 mV of headroom on a nominal 5V rail — enough margin for a lightly regulated supply or a rail that droops under load.
