Automotive-grade transceiver for powerline and industrial comms
The Maxim Integrated MAX2992GCB+T is an automotive-qualified (AEC-Q100) transceiver designed for powerline communication and industrial interface applications where the bus must survive harsh electrical environments. It integrates both SPI and UART interfaces on a single die, allowing a host MCU to talk to the PHY over a standard serial link while the UART port handles legacy or debug traffic. The 64-LQFP package (10x10 mm) keeps the board footprint compact for space-constrained ECU and gateway modules.
The AEC-Q100 qualification means the part has passed stress tests (HTOL, HBM, latch-up) that commercial-grade transceivers skip — a requirement for Tier-1 automotive program sign-off. If your BOM targets a passenger-vehicle ECU or a ruggedized industrial controller, this grade eliminates the qualification delta that a commercial-grade part would need to close.
Lifecycle and supply posture
ROHS3 compliant, so it passes EU and global material-restriction audits without an exemption. For a production BOM line, this means no near-term last-time-buy risk and no compliance paperwork gap.
