The MAX281AEWE+ is a 5th-order Bessel low-pass switched-capacitor filter with a 20 kHz cutoff frequency, designed for anti-aliasing and reconstruction in signal chains where phase linearity matters more than stopband sharpness. The Bessel characteristic delivers near-constant group delay across the passband — the 20 kHz corner preserves waveform shape for pulse or data signals, unlike a Chebyshev or elliptic filter that rings on transients.
Supply flexibility and single-filter architecture
Runs from a single 4.75 V to 16 V supply or a split ±2.375 V to ±8 V rail — the wide envelope lets the filter sit on a 5 V or 12 V analog bus without a dedicated regulator. Single-filter configuration means one channel per package; a multi-channel system needs one MAX281AEWE+ per signal path, which is the trade-off for the Bessel phase response.
Housed in a 16-SOIC wide-body (0.295-inch, 7.50 mm width) with surface-mount termination — the 1.27 mm pitch is layout-friendly for 2-layer boards and reworkable with standard hot-air profiles. Supplied in tube packaging; the SOIC-16 footprint matches the industry-standard wide-body land pattern, so no custom pad geometry is needed.
