35 A buck regulator in a compact FCQFN
The Maxim Integrated MAX20743EPL+T is a single-output step-down (buck) switching regulator delivering 35 A from a 4.5 V to 16 V input rail. Output is adjustable from 0.65 V up to 5.5 V, making it a fit for point-of-load regulation in networking, server, and industrial equipment where a high-current, low-voltage rail is needed. Switching frequency is programmable between 400 kHz and 900 kHz, letting you trade efficiency vs inductor size. The 15-FCQFN package (8x4.15 mm) keeps the footprint tight, but the 35 A rating means the thermal design — PCB copper area, airflow, and load profile — is the real constraint, not the silicon.
No synchronous rectifier — plan the catch diode
This regulator does not include a synchronous rectifier. An external Schottky diode is required for the low-side catch diode. The 35 A output and 900 kHz top-end switching frequency demand a diode rated for the input voltage and the full output current.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The MAX20743EPL+T carries an Active product status and is ROHS3 compliant. No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy schedule is in effect. No pin-compatible second source or official replacement is listed — the part is a single-source item, so dual-sourcing requires a separate qualification of an alternate regulator.
