The MAX202EWE+: It converts the 5 V logic levels on your UART to the ±5 V to ±15 V swing the RS-232 bus expects, and back again on the receive side. Rated for 120 kbps, this part comfortably covers the 9.6 kbps to 115.2 kbps range common in industrial serial links, debug consoles, and configuration ports. The 500 mV receiver hysteresis cleans up a noisy line — a practical margin when the cable runs through a motor-drive cabinet.
