16 A automotive buck regulator in a 3.5x4 mm FC2QFN
Output is adjustable from 0.5 V up to 1.275 V, with synchronous rectification integrated. Switching frequency is pin-selectable between 1.1 MHz and 2.2 MHz, letting you trade efficiency against inductor and capacitor size. The 17-FC2QFN package (3.5x4 mm) with wettable flank terminals supports automated optical inspection (AOI) in automotive assembly lines.
Temperature range and qualification for under-hood use
The Automotive series designation signals that the device is qualified per AEC-Q100 stress tests, including high-temperature operating life (HTOL) and temperature cycling. For a tier-one ECU program, the 125°C junction rating provides margin for self-heating at 16 A continuous output.
Package and footprint — wettable flank for AOI
The 17-PowerWFQFN package (supplier device package 17-FC2QFN, 3.5x4 mm) uses a wettable flank design. This means the side terminals of the QFN are plated so that solder fillet formation is visible after reflow, enabling automated optical inspection (AOI) per IPC-A-610 Class 3. The exposed pad on the underside should be connected to the PCB ground plane with multiple thermal vias to handle the 16 A current and dissipate heat. Surface-mount assembly with standard lead-free reflow profile.
