2 A output, fixed 1.8 V rail
The fixed output means no external resistor divider is needed; the BOM simply matches the rail voltage. The internal synchronous rectifier replaces the usual freewheeling diode with a low-Rds(on) FET, improving efficiency at higher output currents — particularly relevant when the load regularly draws close to the 2 A ceiling. Switching frequency spans 800 kHz to 1.1 MHz, allowing the designer to trade off inductor size (higher frequency, smaller inductor) against switching losses and EMI. The frequency is set by an external resistor; the range covers the common sweet spot for compact power supplies.
Industrial temperature, standard SOIC-8 footprint
It does not extend to the +125°C automotive grade, so under-hood or engine-bay deployment would require a different part. Housed in an 8-pin SOIC (0.154" wide, 3.90 mm body width), the MAX1952ESA+ uses a standard surface-mount footprint that is easy to route, inspect, and rework.
