Fault protection: over-voltage and over-temperature
The MAX1879EUA+ includes over-voltage and over-temperature protection as on-chip fault safeguards. Over-voltage protection prevents the cell from being charged above a safe limit, which is critical for Li-ion chemistry where overcharge can lead to thermal runaway. Over-temperature protection shuts down the charger if the die temperature exceeds a safe threshold, useful in high-ambient or poorly ventilated enclosures. These protections are built in, so the BOM does not need an external supervisor or thermistor circuit for basic safety coverage.
Package and mounting for board integration
Supplied in an 8-uMAX/uSOP package (3.00 mm width), this is a surface-mount device suited for automated assembly. The supplier device package is 8-uMAX/uSOP.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
The MAX1879EUA+ carries an active lifecycle status per the manufacturer, with RoHS3 compliance.
