What the 12-bit, 133k sample rate means for the BOM
The MAX186CEAP+ is a 12-bit, 8-channel Data Acquisition System (DAS) with a successive-approximation ADC core that samples at 133k samples per second. For a multi-channel scan, the throughput per channel is 133k divided by the number of active channels — a 4-channel round-robin yields roughly 33k samples per channel, which is enough to capture a 1 kHz sine wave with 16 samples per cycle for a basic FFT.
Supply rails and signal chain integration
It runs from dual ±5 V rails. The dual-supply architecture means the analog input range can swing below ground without external level shifting — the ADC's input multiplexer accepts signals referenced to the negative rail.
Package and board-fit for the 20-SSOP footprint
The 0.65 mm pin pitch on this SSOP is a standard footprint for a 2-layer board — the traces fan out without a via under the body.
