What this boost converter does for your rail
The MAX1795EUA+T is a step-up (boost) DC-DC converter from Analog Devices, built for generating a regulated positive rail from a lower input voltage. It starts up from as low as 1 V on the input, which means it can draw from a single alkaline cell or a Li-ion battery that's nearly flat, and deliver a programmable output from 2 V up to 5.5 V. The internal switch is rated for 200 mA, so this is a light-load part — think sensor supplies, Bluetooth modules, or small MCU rails — not a motor driver. Switching at 500 kHz keeps the inductor small, which helps when board space is tight.
Output voltage options and setting
The output is adjustable, with factory-programmed fixed options at 3.3 V and 5 V available through the same part number variant.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, which covers industrial control cabinets, outdoor telecom enclosures, and automotive cabin environments. Not a full automotive-grade part (no AEC-Q100 listed), but fine for most commercial and industrial applications where the board isn't under the hood.
Lifecycle and sourcing
This part is listed as Active with ROHS3 compliance. If you're stocking spares for a long-life product, this one isn't going away soon.
