Product details

Wide-input flyback controller for isolated supplies

The MAX17690ATE+T is a current-mode flyback controller from Analog Devices designed for isolated step-up/step-down (flyback) power conversion. The controller drives an external transistor (Transistor Driver output) and supports a single output phase, with output configuration positive and isolation-capable. The 69% maximum duty cycle defines the voltage conversion ratio achievable in flyback topology.

Switching frequency and control flexibility

Switching frequency is programmable from 50kHz to 250kHz via the Frequency Control pin — a lower frequency reduces switching losses but requires larger magnetics; higher frequency shrinks the transformer at the cost of increased FET switching loss. The controller lacks clock synchronization (No), so it cannot be slaved to an external system clock for noise management. Control features include Current Limit, Enable, Frequency Control, and Soft Start. Soft Start limits inrush current during startup, critical when charging the output capacitor of an isolated supply. The Enable pin allows the supply to be sequenced on/off from a logic signal.

Package and thermal environment

Housed in a 16-WFQFN Exposed Pad package (3x3mm, 16-TQFN supplier package), surface-mount mounting. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) for prototyping or production volume. The part is RoHS3 compliant.

Sourcing and compliance

RoHS3 compliant per the lifecycle record.

Frequently asked questions

Does MAX17690ATE+T support synchronous rectification?

No, the controller does not include a synchronous rectifier output. It drives an external transistor in a standard flyback topology, typically using a diode on the secondary side for rectification.
