60 V input, 3.5 A output — the Himalaya buck regulator for industrial rails
The MAX17504ATP+ is a step-down (buck) switching regulator from Maxim Integrated's Himalaya family, delivering up to 3.5 A from a 4.5 V to 60 V input rail.
Wide switching frequency and synchronous rectification
The switching frequency is programmable from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz — a 200 kHz setting keeps switching losses low for a 60 V-to-3.3 V conversion, while 2.2 MHz shrinks the inductor and output capacitor footprint at the cost of higher gate-drive loss. Synchronous rectification is built in, so no external Schottky catch diode is needed; the internal low-side FET handles the freewheeling current, which improves efficiency at moderate-to-heavy loads.
20-TQFN exposed-pad package for thermal management
Housed in a 20-pin TQFN with an exposed pad (5 mm × 5 mm body), the MAX17504ATP+ relies on the PCB copper pour under the pad to pull heat from the die. Surface-mount assembly; the tube packaging means the parts arrive in anti-static tubes, not tape-and-reel, which matters for pick-and-place feeder setup.
