The MAX17503SATP+ is a Himalaya-series step-down buck regulator from Analog Devices, delivering up to 2.5 A from a 4.5 V to 60 V input rail. The single adjustable output is positive and can be set between 0.9 V and 54 V, making it suitable for a wide range of intermediate bus and point-of-load applications. Synchronous rectification is built in, so no external Schottky diode is needed for typical designs.
Housed in a 20-WFQFN with exposed pad (supplier package 20-TQFN, 4x4 mm), the MAX17503SATP+ is a surface-mount part intended for reflow assembly.
Switching frequency and output flexibility
The switching frequency is programmable from 100 kHz to 2.2 MHz via an external resistor. A lower frequency reduces switching losses and allows larger inductors for higher efficiency at light load; a higher frequency shrinks the inductor footprint and output ripple at the cost of increased gate-drive loss. The wide 60 V input maximum means the part can handle 48 V telecom rails and 24 V industrial supplies with headroom for transients.
