Charge current and cell configuration for multi-cell packs
The MAX17435ETG+T is a multi-chemistry battery charger IC from Analog Devices that handles 2 to 4 series cells with a programmable constant-current charge up to 7A. The 16.8V battery pack voltage aligns it with 4-series Li-ion or Li-polymer stacks, while the 26V maximum supply gives headroom for 12V or 24V input rails common in industrial and portable equipment. The I²C interface lets you set the charge current, termination voltage, and other parameters on the fly, which means a single BOM line can serve different pack sizes by reconfiguring the firmware rather than swapping passives.
Package, thermal, and layout considerations
The surface-mount footprint is compact enough for space-constrained handheld or embedded charger boards. The over-voltage fault protection guards the pack against charger runaway if the feedback loop opens.
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, simplifying EU and California market entry.
