Single-cell Li+ fuel gauge with ModelGauge
The MAX17201X+T from Maxim Integrated is a battery monitor IC for a single Li+ cell, using the ModelGauge™ algorithm to report state-of-charge without requiring a current-sense resistor calibration cycle. Communication runs over I²C, so the host reads remaining capacity, voltage, and current directly. The 15-WLP package (1.61×2.36 mm) keeps the footprint small for space-constrained portable designs. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 85°C, which suits handheld instruments, medical peripherals, and outdoor IoT nodes that see temperature swings.
Active lifecycle — no LTB pressure
The MAX17201X+T carries an Active product status with ROHS3 compliance. No end-of-life notice or last-time-buy window is in effect. This part can be specified into new production builds without planning for a replacement cycle. For BOM freeze reviews, the active status means the supply channel remains open through standard distribution.
What the I²C interface and single-cell rating mean for the BOM
The I²C interface uses two lines (SCL, SDA). The single-cell rating limits this part to one Li+ series cell.
