What the fault protection ratings mean for fit
This is a dedicated battery protection IC, not a general-purpose DC-DC converter. It monitors the supply rail and disconnects the load when it detects an over-voltage condition or a reverse-battery event — the two failure modes that can damage downstream electronics in automotive and industrial battery-powered systems. The -40°C to +125°C operating range covers the full automotive under-hood temperature band (AEC-Q100 Grade 1 territory) and industrial engine-bay environments. A cold-crank at -40°C or a hot-soak at 125°C does not take the part outside its rated junction temperature.
Supplied in a 10-lead MSOP (also designated uMAX) package — 3.00 mm body width, 0.118-inch pitch, surface-mount. The small footprint suits space-constrained battery management boards where a larger SOIC would not fit.
