Automotive LDO with 60 dB ripple rejection
The MAX16910CASA8/V+T is a single-output positive adjustable LDO from Analog Devices, part of the Automotive AEC-Q100 series. It delivers up to 200 mA with a maximum dropout of 0.6 V at full load, making it suitable for powering always-on modules like CAN transceivers or sensor front-ends in engine-bay or cabin electronics. Its 60 dB PSRR at 100 Hz means the output rejects ripple from upstream switching converters by a factor of 1000 — critical when the LDO sits downstream of a noisy 12 V bus in a body controller or infotainment head unit.
Input rail and dropout headroom
Rated for a maximum input of 30 V, the regulator survives load-dump transients common on automotive 12 V systems without an external clamp. The 0.6 V dropout at 200 mA means the input must stay at least 0.6 V above the programmed output across the full load range — a 5 V output needs at least 5.6 V on the input to stay in regulation. Quiescent current is 30 µA typical, low enough for always-on battery-backed circuits where every microamp extends standby life. The Enable and Reset control features let a supervisor sequence the rail on and off without a separate power switch.
Temperature grade and package thermal path
Protection features include over-temperature shutdown and short-circuit current limiting, so the regulator survives a hard output short without external foldback circuitry.
