Automotive buck regulator with wide input range
The MAX16909RAUE/V+: Output is adjustable down to 1V or fixed at 5V via the same pin, suiting both modern low-voltage cores and legacy 5V rails. The 400kHz fixed switching frequency balances inductor size against switching losses for a typical point-of-load rail.
Synchronous rectifier and thermal package
The regulator uses a non-synchronous rectifier topology — an external Schottky diode is required for the low-side path. This adds a BOM component but allows the designer to select a diode with a forward voltage tailored to the output current profile.
