LED driver controller for automotive and general lighting
The MAX16833AUE+ is a current-mode DC-DC controller from Analog Devices designed to drive an external MOSFET for high-brightness LED strings. It supports buck, boost, flyback, and SEPIC topologies, making it adaptable to a wide range of input-to-output voltage relationships in automotive and general lighting applications.
Switching frequency and dimming flexibility
Higher frequencies shrink the magnetics but increase switching losses in the external FET. Both analog and PWM dimming are supported. Analog dimming adjusts the LED current linearly; PWM dimming maintains colour temperature by varying the duty cycle at a fixed peak current. The single output drives one LED string.
Temperature range and package
Lifecycle status is Active, and the part is ROHS3 compliant.
