What the 125 mA and positive-or-negative output mean for your rail
The MAX1681ESA+T is a charge-pump DC-DC converter that generates a regulated output at either -Vin or 2×Vin from a 2 V to 5.5 V input rail, delivering up to 125 mA. The ratiometric topology means the output voltage tracks the input ratio rather than using an internal reference — so if the input is 3.3 V, the part produces either -3.3 V or 6.6 V without an inductor. That 125 mA ceiling sets the load budget for a small analog front-end or a dual-supply op-amp chain running from a single battery. The 500 kHz or 1 MHz switching frequency lets the designer choose between smaller external capacitors (1 MHz) and lower switching losses (500 kHz).
8-SOIC package and board integration
No exposed pad — thermal dissipation relies on the SOIC leads and the copper pour area connected to the GND pins. The Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options cover both production reel and prototype quantities.
