Offline LED driver with multi-topology flexibility
The MAX16802AEUA+ is an AC DC Offline Switcher from Analog Devices, designed for LED backlight and lighting applications. It supports Flyback, SEPIC, Step-Down (Buck), and Step-Up (Boost) topologies, making it adaptable to a wide range of offline power supply architectures. Switching at a fixed 262 kHz, the controller operates from a 10.8 V to 24 V supply range. The 8-uMAX/uSOP package (3.00 mm width) keeps the footprint compact for space-constrained lighting PCBs.
Dimming and output control
The part supports both Analog and PWM dimming methods, giving the designer a choice between continuous current adjustment and high-frequency pulse-width modulation for brightness control. The single output drives an external switch — no internal power FET is integrated, so the external MOSFET selection sets the output current ceiling. The controller's supply input (10.8 V min) allows it to start from a rectified offline rail or a separate bias supply.
