0.7V start-up, 550mA switch — low-voltage boost for battery gear
The MAX1678EUA+ is a step-up (boost) DC-DC converter that starts from an input as low as 0.7 V and delivers up to 550 mA on the internal switch — meaning it can generate a regulated 3.3 V rail from a single alkaline cell that has dropped to near end-of-life voltage. Switching at 150 kHz, the part uses a synchronous rectifier — the on-chip FET replaces the usual external Schottky diode, which cuts the forward-drop loss and lifts efficiency in the 2–3.3 V output range typical for portable gear.
