Active supervisor for 3 V rails
The MAX16059ATT30+T is a simple reset/power-on reset supervisor from Analog Devices, monitoring a single voltage rail with a 3 V threshold. Its active-low, open-drain output asserts reset when the monitored supply drops below threshold and holds it for an adjustable/selectable timeout period after recovery — the classic sequence for holding a microcontroller or FPGA in reset until the core rail is stable. Operating across -40°C to 125°C, this supervisor fits industrial and automotive environments where the ambient temperature inside the enclosure routinely exceeds 85°C. The 6-WDFN exposed-pad package (6-TDFN, 3×3 mm) conducts heat to the PCB ground plane through the centre pad, keeping the die temperature within the rated junction range even when the supervisor sits near a hot regulator or processor.
Design-in note: open-drain output and timeout selection
Because the output is open-drain, multiple supervisors can wire-OR their outputs to a common reset line — useful when monitoring several rails with a single processor reset pin. Reset timeout is adjustable/selectable, not fixed — the datasheet's timing resistor or capacitor selection determines the delay between supply recovery and reset de-assertion. This lets a single BOM position serve boards with different power-up sequencing requirements by changing one passive component rather than the supervisor itself.
