What this Himalaya buck does on your rail
The MAX15462CATA+T is a step-down (buck) switching regulator from Maxim Integrated's Himalaya series, delivering up to 300 mA from a 4.5 V to 42 V input rail. The output is adjustable from 0.9 V up to 37.37 V, set by an external resistor divider. Synchronous rectification is built in, so no external catch diode is needed — that saves board area and improves efficiency, especially at light loads. Switching frequency is fixed at 500 kHz, which keeps the inductor small while staying below the AM band. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C covers automotive under-hood and industrial enclosures where ambient heat is a given. The part comes in an 8-TDFN (2x2 mm) package, surface-mount, and is ROHS3 compliant.
300 mA output — sizing the load budget
300 mA is the continuous output rating. That covers a sensor module, a small microcontroller plus its peripherals, or an isolated bias supply.
Synchronous rectification — efficiency without the diode
The built-in synchronous rectifier replaces the usual Schottky catch diode. That eliminates the diode's forward voltage drop and its reverse-recovery losses, which matters at 500 kHz switching.
Lifecycle and sourcing — active, no LTB risk
ROHS3 compliant. The part is available through independent distribution; we source and quote it to order against an RFQ.
