Dropout and load — the real-world headroom
The MAX15029ATB+T: Rated for 500 mA continuous output with a maximum dropout voltage of 0.15 V at that full load. Output is adjustable from 0.5 V minimum up to 3.3 V maximum, positive polarity, single regulator. This covers core voltages for low-power MCUs and FPGAs as well as 1.8 V and 2.5 V I/O rails, all from a single LDO.
Temperature grade and quiescent current
Operating temperature spans -40°C to +125°C (TA) — the industrial/automotive temperature band, not a commercial 0-70°C part. A design that sees 85°C ambient under-hood or on a motor-drive PCB still has margin to the 125°C limit. Quiescent current is 410 µA typical, with a maximum supply current of 560 µA. For a battery-powered sensor node that spends most of its time in a light-load state, this Iq sits well below the self-discharge rate of a 500 mAh cell — the regulator's own draw does not dominate the sleep budget.
Housed in a 10-WFDFN exposed-pad package, supplier device package 10-TDFN measuring 3x3 mm. Surface-mount only; no through-hole variant. Control features include Enable and Soft Start. The Soft Start pin ramps the output voltage on startup, limiting inrush current into a capacitive load. Protection covers over-temperature and short-circuit events.
