Package and mounting
The Maxim Integrated MAX15007BASA+ is a single-output positive linear regulator that delivers a fixed 5V rail from a wide input range up to 40V, rated for 50mA continuous output. It comes in an 8-SOIC with exposed pad (8-SOIC-EP) for heat sinking into the board copper. The 66dB PSRR at 100Hz means it scrubs mains-frequency ripple off the input — useful when you're feeding a sensitive analog front-end from a noisy 24V industrial supply or an automotive battery line. The 18µA quiescent current keeps the idle draw low enough for always-on circuits in battery-backed equipment.
Protection and control
On-chip protection includes over-temperature shutdown and short-circuit current limiting. An Enable pin lets you gate the output for sequencing or power-save modes. The fixed 5V output means no external resistor divider — just input, output, and a couple of bypass caps. That simplicity is exactly what you want when you're replacing a scorched regulator on a controller board and need a drop-in fix.
