40 V input LDO for always-on automotive and industrial rails
The MAX15006AASA+ is a 3.3 V fixed-output linear regulator rated for 50 mA continuous output, with a maximum input voltage of 40 V. Quiescent current is 17 µA typical, max supply current 150 µA, so the regulator's own draw stays low enough for an always-on ECU or battery-backed sensor node that sleeps between wake events. An engine-bay module or transmission controller that sees 105°C on a hot day still has margin before the thermal shutdown threshold.
PSRR and ripple rejection at line frequency
Power-supply rejection ratio is 66 dB at 100 Hz — this is the frequency of full-wave-rectified 50/60 Hz mains ripple. A 1 Vpp ripple on the input rail is attenuated to roughly 0.5 mVpp at the output. For an automotive audio head unit or an industrial ADC supply, that keeps the noise floor below the signal chain's LSB.
Protection and package integration
Built-in over-temperature and short-circuit protection eliminate the need for an external current-limit resistor or thermal watchdog — the regulator shuts itself down and auto-recovers when the fault clears. Without that copper area, the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance rises and the output current may need derating above 85°C ambient.
