10-bit SAR ADC with multiplexed inputs
The MAX149BEAP+T is a 10-bit successive-approximation (SAR) ADC from Analog Devices, configured as a MUX-S/H-ADC with a 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio. It accepts either differential or single-ended inputs through a front-end multiplexer that connects 4 or 8 channels to the sampling network. The 133k samples-per-second throughput suits medium-speed data acquisition, process monitoring, and control-loop feedback.
Sampling rate and input channel count
At 133k SPS the conversion time per channel is roughly 7.5 µs, including the multiplexer settling and SAR conversion. With 8 single-ended inputs the aggregate throughput drops to about 16.6k samples per channel per second — still fast enough for most multi-channel sensor arrays. The 4-channel differential mode halves the input count but doubles the common-mode rejection for noisy field wiring. The internal reference eliminates the need for an external voltage source, saving one component and one board trace. For applications that need a ratiometric measurement against a precision external reference, the reference type can be switched to external.
