The Maxim MAX14931FAWE+ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology to provide galvanic isolation up to 2750 Vrms. It supports a data rate of 150 Mbps with propagation delays of 7.5 ns (tpLH) and 7.4 ns (tpHL) and pulse-width distortion under 1 ns. The supply range spans 1.71 V to 5.5 V.
The 150 Mbps data rate covers most high-speed serial protocols. The 2750 Vrms isolation rating is a basic insulation level for mains-referenced circuits. The 25 kV/µs typical common-mode transient immunity ensures the output doesn't glitch when fast voltage transients appear across the isolation barrier.
Channel configuration and supply flexibility
Three channels on side 1, one on side 2 — a 3/1 split that suits a typical SPI isolation pattern (SCLK, MOSI, CS on one side, MISO on the other) or a three-signal control bus with one feedback line. All channels are unidirectional, so the direction is fixed at design time. No isolated power is generated internally — you must provide separate supply rails on each side.
The 125°C upper limit covers most sealed enclosures and engine-bay-adjacent locations.
Package and rework considerations
The lead pitch is wide enough that bridging is unlikely with a fine-tip iron. No exposed thermal pad, so the part dissipates through the leads and the board copper. The part ships in Tube.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
It is ROHS3 compliant.
