Four-channel capacitive isolator for mixed-voltage industrial isolation
The MAX14931DAWE+ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator using capacitive coupling for 2750Vrms isolation in a 16-SOIC package.
2750Vrms and 25kV/µs CMTI — what they mean for the system
The 2750Vrms isolation voltage is a basic isolation rating suitable for industrial equipment, motor drives, and instrumentation where the working voltage stays under 300VAC. It is not reinforced isolation for mains-connected medical or grid-tied power supplies — that would need a higher-rated part. The common-mode transient immunity of 25kV/µs (typical) is the spec that matters in a PWM-switching environment: a motor-drive inverter or a switched-mode power supply can slam several kilovolts per microsecond across the isolation barrier, and if the isolator cannot reject that edge, you get bit flips on the data line. 25kV/µs is a solid figure for most industrial drives and inverter stages.
