What this full-duplex RS-485 transceiver does
The MAX1490BCPG+ is a single-channel, full-duplex transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 networks, rated at 250 kbps. The 70 mV receiver hysteresis provides noise rejection on long differential buses — enough to suppress reflections on cables up to several hundred metres at 250 kbps, assuming proper termination.
Supply rail and temperature grade
Operates from a single 4.5V to 5.5V supply — a standard 5V rail, so no extra regulator is needed if your board already carries 5V. It is not rated for engine bays or outdoor telecom cabinets where the ambient exceeds 70°C.

Through-hole 24-DIP (0.600-inch body width) with 15.24 mm lead spacing — a legacy footprint that simplifies hand-assembly and rework but consumes more board area than a surface-mount alternative.
