RS-422/RS-485 transceiver — full-duplex, 2.5 Mbps, 24-PDIP
The MAX1490ACPG+ is a single-channel RS-422/RS-485 transceiver from Analog Devices, configured for full-duplex communication at data rates up to 2.5 Mbps. It integrates one driver and one receiver in a 24-pin DIP package with through-hole mounting, suited for industrial control networks and instrumentation buses where galvanic isolation is not required. The 70 mV receiver hysteresis provides noise immunity on long cable runs — the hysteresis band suppresses chatter from reflections and common-mode noise on the twisted pair, which matters when the bus spans tens of metres in a factory-floor environment.
Supply voltage and temperature grade
The commercial temperature range (0°C to 70°C) covers indoor control cabinets and test equipment; for extended-temperature applications a different grade is needed. The 24-PDIP package (0.600-inch body width, 15.24 mm pitch) is a through-hole footprint that suits prototyping, socketed designs, and legacy board layouts where surface-mount rework is impractical.
