RS-485/RS-422 transceiver, 12 Mbps, full duplex
The MAX1484EUB+ is a single RS-485/RS-422 transceiver from Analog Devices, configured as a 1/1 driver/receiver pair in full-duplex mode.
Signal integrity and noise margin
The receiver includes 70 mV of hysteresis, which cleans up slow or noisy edges on long cable runs — the hysteresis band sits above the typical RS-485 fail-safe threshold, so the output stays in a known state when the bus is idle or unterminated. Full-duplex operation means the driver and receiver are active simultaneously on separate twisted pairs — no direction-control pin needed, which simplifies the microcontroller GPIO allocation and firmware timing. The 12 Mbps ceiling supports Profibus DP and similar fieldbus rates without bit-rate margin concerns.
Package and board integration
The supplier device package is 10-uMAX/uSOP — the same 3×3 mm land pattern as the standard MSOP-10, so existing layouts for that footprint accept this part without a board spin. Surface-mount assembly with tube packaging; store the reels dry if the ambient humidity exceeds the floor-life rating for MSOP packages.
