The MAX1483ESA+T is a half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver from Analog Devices, packing one driver and one receiver into the 8-SOIC footprint. It runs at 250kbps — the sweet spot for industrial fieldbus links where 115.2kbps is too slow and 1Mbps adds unnecessary edge-rate ringing on long cable runs.
Operates from a single 5V rail (4.75V to 5.25V) — the classic RS-485 supply that matches legacy backplane power and common 5V logic families. The 75 mV receiver hysteresis cleans up slow edges on long stubs without external Schmitt triggers.

Supplied in an 8-pin SOIC (0.154-inch body width, 3.90 mm) — the standard narrow SOIC footprint that matches countless existing PCB layouts.
