The MAX14595ETA+T: Surface-mount only; no lab bench socket swap here, this one goes on the board with a hot-air station or reflow. Available in Tape & Reel for production pick-and-place or Cut Tape for small-batch builds and prototypes. The 8-pin footprint is straightforward — pin 1 is marked with a dot on the package top, so orientation is clear under a loupe or microscope.

This is a dual-supply level translator: VCCA runs from 0.9 V to 5.5 V, VCCB from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. The 1-circuit, 2-channel bidirectional architecture handles one signal pair (like I2C or a single GPIO line) without needing a direction pin — the translator senses the drive direction automatically.

Data rate and output drive

Rated for 4 MHz or 8 MHz data rate — the 8 MHz ceiling is enough for standard I2C Fast-mode Plus (1 MHz) or SPI clock lines up to 8 MHz. The output can be configured as open-drain (for wired-OR buses like I2C) or push-pull (for point-to-point signals). Thermal-shutdown protection kicks in if the die overheats from a sustained short or excessive load — useful in field conditions where a downstream fault might otherwise cook the translator. Tri-state input means unused channels float high-Z and don't load the bus.

The 8-TDFN package's thermal pad keeps junction temperature within limits even at the high end of the range, provided the board has a reasonable copper pour under the pad.
