Adjustable current limit — set it with one resistor
Output current is adjustable via an external resistor (the datasheet gives the formula). The ±10% accuracy on the limit threshold means if you set it for 500 mA, the actual trip point falls between 450 mA and 550 mA — budget that guard band when sizing the downstream load and the PCB trace width. The part functions as a current limiter, not a constant-current source — it clamps the output current to the programmed value when the load tries to draw more, protecting the supply and the wiring from a hard short.
Package and hand-solderability
The 8-WFDFN exposed-pad package (2x2 mm body) has a thermal pad underneath that must be soldered to a copper land on the PCB for heat sinking. The exposed pad needs a via-in-pad or a thermal via array to pull heat into the board.
