12-bit SAR ADC with true simultaneous sampling
The Maxim Integrated MAX1383ATP+ is a 12-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter that integrates two complete A/D converters on one die, enabling true simultaneous sampling of two independent input channels. Each converter is preceded by a 2-channel multiplexer, giving a total of four single-ended or two differential inputs (configurable per channel). The part samples at 1.25 Msps per converter, making it suitable for applications that require correlated multi-channel measurements such as motor phase-current sensing, three-phase power monitoring, or dual-axis position feedback.
Temperature grade and package
Rated for the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the MAX1383ATP+ can be used in under-hood automotive, factory-floor automation, and outdoor telecom equipment. It comes in a 20-pin TQFN package with an exposed pad (5 mm x 5 mm body) for efficient heat sinking. The supplier device package is 20-TQFN (5x5).
Reference and architecture
The converter uses a SAR architecture with an external or internal reference option, giving flexibility in system-level accuracy budgeting. The S/H-to-ADC ratio is 1:1, meaning each converter has its own dedicated sample-and-hold, which preserves the timing alignment between channels during simultaneous acquisition.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is RoHS3 compliant (lead-free), which simplifies compliance with global environmental regulations for new product introductions.
