15-bit multi-slope ADC in a 28-pin DIP
The Maxim Integrated MAX135CPI+ is a 15-bit multi-slope integrating ADC in a 28-pin PDIP package. It samples at 16 conversions per second, accepting a single differential input and outputting data over a parallel interface.
Dual ±5 V rails and external reference
Both the analog and digital supply pins need ±5 V — there is no single-rail version of this part. That means a bipolar supply on the board, or a DC-DC converter generating the negative rail.
Through-hole PDIP — rework-friendly, socketable
The 28-pin PDIP (0.600" wide, 15.24 mm pitch) is about as rework-friendly as it gets. No hot air needed — a desoldering station or even a solder sucker will lift this cleanly. If you are prototyping or building a low-volume run, you can socket this in a 28-pin DIP socket and swap parts without touching the board.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The MAX135CPI+ carries an Active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant. For a precision ADC in a through-hole package that has been around for years, that is a solid sourcing position — no urgent need to qualify a second source, though the 28-pin DIP footprint is common enough that a pin-compatible alternative from another vendor could be dual-sourced if supply risk is a concern.
