Product details

20 Mbps RS-485/RS-422 transceiver for industrial links

The MAX13451EAUD+T: Half-duplex transceiver supporting RS-422 and RS-485 protocols, with one driver and one receiver in a 14-TSSOP exposed-pad package. Data rate is 20 Mbps over a 4.5 V to 5.5 V supply, with 15 mV receiver hysteresis.

Supply rail and logic compatibility

This part runs on a 5 V nominal supply (4.5 V to 5.5 V range). It is not a 3.3 V logic-compatible transceiver — if your UART or controller operates at 3.3 V, you will need level translation on the driver input and receiver output pins. The 15 mV receiver hysteresis helps with noise immunity on differential pairs, but the supply rail is the hard constraint for BOM fit.

Package and thermal management

14-TSSOP with exposed pad (14-TSSOP-EP) requires a thermal-land pattern on the PCB for heat sinking. The exposed paddle must be soldered to a copper plane.

Lifecycle and compliance

It is ROHS3 compliant, so it meets the current EU restriction directive without exemption.

Frequently asked questions

Is MAX13451EAUD+T compatible with 3.3V logic?

No — the supply range is 4.5 V to 5.5 V, and the logic inputs are referenced to that rail. 3.3 V logic levels will not reliably drive the driver input without a level shifter.
