8-channel simultaneous-sampling ADC for multi-phase acquisition
The MAX1316ECM+ is a 14-bit successive-approximation (SAR) ADC that samples eight single-ended inputs simultaneously at 250 kSps aggregate. The 8:1 S/H:ADC ratio means each of the eight track-and-hold circuits captures its channel at the same instant, then the single converter digitises them sequentially — a requirement for phase-coherent measurements in power monitoring, motor current sensing, or multi-axis vibration analysis where timing skew between channels would alias the phase relationship.
Supply rails and reference flexibility
The reference can be driven from an internal bandgap or an external precision source; for ratiometric measurements the external reference pin accepts the same 5 V rail as the analog supply, eliminating one voltage reference IC from the BOM.
Parallel data bus and industrial temperature range
Data is read via a parallel interface — the 14-bit word appears on a single 14-line bus, so the host reads the full conversion result in one cycle without serial clock overhead.
For a new design this part is a low-risk selection — the active status means it will be manufacturable for the foreseeable product lifecycle, and the RoHS3 exemption-free compliance avoids last-minute material-change requalification.
