The MAX13087EESA+T is a single RS-485/RS-422 transceiver from Analog Devices that operates in full-duplex mode, with one driver and one receiver integrated into an 8-pin SOIC package. It supports data rates up to 16 Mbps, making it suited for high-speed industrial fieldbus links where the bus topology requires simultaneous transmit and receive paths.
The 5 V ±10 % supply tolerance means the transceiver stays within spec on a loosely regulated 5 V rail common in distributed I/O networks. Full-duplex operation requires a four-wire bus (two twisted pairs), which doubles the cable count over half-duplex but eliminates the turnaround dead time. At 16 Mbps the bit period is 62.5 ns; the driver propagation delay and cable skew must sum to less than that to maintain data integrity — a consideration for the PCB layout engineer when routing the differential pairs.
