12-bit SAR ADC with on-chip temperature sensor
The MAX1230BEEG+T is a 12-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC from Analog Devices, sampling at 300k samples per second over an SPI interface. It accepts up to 8 differential or 16 single-ended inputs through an internal MUX, and includes an on-chip temperature sensor that eliminates an external thermistor or analog-front-end channel for board-temperature monitoring. Both analog and digital sections run from a single 5V supply, which simplifies power routing on mixed-signal boards.
Input flexibility and reference options
The MUX-S/H-ADC configuration lets you wire the part for either 8 differential or 16 single-ended inputs, covering most industrial sensor arrays without an external multiplexer. The reference can be driven externally or taken from the internal bandgap, which saves a precision reference IC when absolute accuracy requirements are moderate. The 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means each conversion samples the held value once — no pipeline delay to budget for.
Industrial temperature range and package
Rated for -40°C to 85°C, the MAX1230BEEG+T suits outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor I/O modules, and engine-bay data-acquisition boards without a commercial-temperature derating step. It ships in a 24-QSOP (3.90 mm wide) — a compact footprint that fits alongside an MCU or FPGA on a dense mixed-signal PCB.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The MAX1230BEEG+T carries an active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant.
