12-bit SAR ADC with 300k SPS and input mux
The Analog Devices MAX1227BCEE+ is a 12-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC that samples at 300k samples per second. It integrates an input multiplexer accepting either 4 differential or 8 single-ended analog inputs, plus an on-chip temperature sensor for die-temperature monitoring. The SPI-compatible serial interface and single 2.7V to 3.6V supply rail (shared by analog and digital domains) simplify board layout and power budgeting. Housed in a 16-pin QSOP package, this ADC targets industrial sensor acquisition, data-logging, and portable instrumentation operating in the 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range.
300k SPS — what it buys you
At 300k samples per second, the MAX1227BCEE+ can digitize input signals up to roughly 150 kHz bandwidth (Nyquist-limited), making it suitable for multi-channel data acquisition where each channel is scanned sequentially. The 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means the sample-and-hold captures one sample per conversion cycle; the internal SAR architecture delivers a conversion result on every clock cycle with no pipeline delay, so the throughput is deterministic and easy to time in firmware.
Input configuration and reference options
The internal mux lets you configure the ADC for 4 differential inputs (each using two pins) or 8 single-ended inputs referenced to common ground. The reference type is selectable between an internal bandgap reference and an external reference applied to a dedicated pin, giving flexibility between absolute accuracy and ratiometric measurements. Single 3.3 V supply operation keeps the BOM lean — no separate analog rail needed.
Active lifecycle, no end-of-life risk
The MAX1227BCEE+ carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance.
