12-bit SAR ADC with I²C — what it is and where it fits
The Maxim Integrated MAX11644EUA+ is a 12-bit SAR ADC with an I²C data interface. It packs a multiplexer, sample-and-hold, and the ADC core into an 8-pin surface-mount package (8-uMAX/uSOP).
Input flexibility — differential or single-ended, one or two channels
The MAX11644EUA+ can be wired for a single differential pair or two single-ended inputs. The on-chip multiplexer and sample-and-hold handle the switching, so the host just reads the I²C register.
Package and handling — 8-uMAX/uSOP
The 8-uMAX/uSOP package (3.00mm body width) is a standard small-outline footprint. You can hand-solder it with a fine-tip iron if you are careful, but a hot-air station or reflow oven is cleaner for production. No exposed pad, so the thermal path is through the pins only; keep the ambient below 85°C.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The part is ROHS3 compliant.
