12-bit SAR ADC with I²C bus
This is a 12-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC that samples at 94.4 kSPS — fast enough to digitize a few sensor channels or a low-speed analog front-end without missing a sample window. The data interface is I²C, so it connects directly to a 2-wire bus without extra level shifting if the host runs at the same 5 V supply as the ADC.
Input mux and signal conditioning
The front end is a MUX-S/H-ADC configuration with a 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio, meaning the sample-and-hold captures one channel at a time and the internal SAR converter digitizes it. Inputs can be configured as either differential (two inputs) or single-ended (four inputs), giving flexibility to measure a ratiometric bridge sensor or four 0-5 V signals on the same chip. The reference can be internal or external — if the system already has a stable 5 V rail, the internal reference saves a component; for tighter accuracy, an external reference bypasses the internal drift.
