12-bit SAR ADC at 1 Msps — what the ratings mean on the bench
The MAX11325ATJ+ is a 12-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC from Analog Devices, sampling at 1 million samples per second (1 Msps). That sample rate means it captures a full 12-bit word every microsecond — fast enough to digitize a 500 kHz analog signal with Nyquist margin, or to interleave multiple channels in a multiplexed front-end without dropping edges. The input multiplexer accepts four differential or eight single-ended channels, and also supports pseudo-differential mode — so a single part handles a ratiometric bridge sensor (differential), a bank of thermocouples (single-ended), or a mix of both without an external mux.

The reference is external (not on-chip), so the full-scale range and noise floor are set by the reference voltage you choose — a low-drift 2.5 V reference gives a 2.5 V full-scale input; a 4.096 V reference gives a 4.096 V range, limited by the 3.6 V analog supply ceiling.
