20-bit sigma-delta ADC with PGA — what it does and where it fits
The MAX11206EEE+ is a single-channel, 20-bit sigma-delta ADC from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated). It integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and a differential input stage, making it suited for low-frequency, high-resolution measurement applications such as weigh scales, strain gauges, temperature sensors, and industrial process control loops. The sigma-delta architecture provides inherent noise shaping for clean DC conversions at a maximum sampling rate of 480 SPS.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for -40°C to +85°C, this part covers industrial temperature ranges — factory floor, outdoor telecom cabinets, and engine-bay-adjacent enclosures. The 16-QSOP surface-mount package fits compact PCB layouts; the 0.154-inch body width is standard for SSOP-16 footprints. The external reference input lets the designer set the full-scale range independent of the supply, critical for ratiometric bridge measurements.
