8-bit SAR ADC with flexible input mux
The Maxim Integrated MAX1113EEE+ is an 8-bit successive-approximation register (SAR) ADC that samples at 50k samples per second over an SPI serial interface. It integrates a 2- or 4-channel input multiplexer (configurable as differential or single-ended) with a sample-and-hold, all in a single 16-pin QSOP package. The analog and digital supplies both run from a single 5 V rail, simplifying power routing on mixed-signal boards. With an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, it fits data-acquisition front-ends, battery monitors, and industrial sensor interfaces where moderate speed and 8-bit resolution are adequate.
Input configuration matters for signal conditioning
The MUX-S/H-ADC architecture lets you select either differential or single-ended inputs per channel. Differential mode rejects common-mode noise on long sensor leads — useful for thermocouple or bridge measurements where the signal is small and the cable picks up interference. Single-ended mode gives you four channels when the signal source is local and ground-referenced. The 1:1 S/H-to-ADC ratio means each conversion samples the held voltage directly, no pipeline delay to budget.
Active production, no obsolescence concern
The MAX1113EEE+ carries an active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance.
